The Stafford Trojans represented well at Barton Senior Day. Seven seniors visited Barton Community College and learned more about their programs and opportunities. Be proud of our students' behavior and ability to connect with college staff. These Trojans all have bright futures ahead!

Our goal is to prepare students for future career opportunities. The images show students working on their computer controlled LED board. This project requires students to construct a 5 volt system converted to a 12 volt system using various relays (little blue squares)

The first half of the Culinary Essentials class prepared their Omelettes this morning. Students are learning about Breakfast Foods including the different preparation methods for eggs. Yesterday, students prepared the fillings for the omelettes and today their egg cooking skills were put to the test. Prior to preparing omelettes, students practiced frying eggs and the saute flip (flipping the egg in the saute pan without the assistance of a spatula/turner). Students also practiced their Chiffonade knife cut by preparing fresh spinach to garnish their finished dishes.

Baking and Pastries students learned all about preparing Pumpkin Layer Cakes. This monumental project began last week and ended today with students preparing marshmallow meringue, piping the finishing touches, and toasting the meringue with the kitchen torch. The pumpkin cake was layered with brown sugar buttercream, pumpkin cream filling, and crumbled pie crust. Students roasted and pureed the fresh pumpkin used in the cake and the cream filling. The cakes were assembled using cake rings and acetate sheets to achieve beautiful layers. Each day in the kitchen brought new challenges, especially working within the time constraints of a 51-minute class period. We are thankful for understanding Trojan Teachers when class ran a little late. We are also thankful for the dishwasher that plowed through the endless dishes needed to prepare the cakes. The final challenge for these students will be transporting the cakes home in one piece!

Note for high school athletes: HS Only - Weekly Rule Review - Fall Athletic Buffer Week - November 11-17, 2024 is the senior high fall athletic buffer week. There shall be no athletic practice, offseason conditioning, informal basketball shooting, working out on wrestling mats, etc. in school owned facilities during the fall athletic buffer week. Athletic activities of this nature may not be held under the supervision of a school staff member in non-school facilities. This means a moratorium on all school sponsored athletic activities during this week. Gymnasiums shall not be open to students during the fall athletic buffer week for purposes of shooting baskets, working out with weights, etc. outside of school hours. Noon hour and physical education classes are considered part of the school day. Buffer week does not eliminate football practices for those senior high schools who qualify for football playoffs until such time their football season is over.
