Stafford Schools has been awarded a grant by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to help students stay in school during the COVID-19 pandemic. If a student shows symptoms or has been a close contact to a positive case, testing can be done at school. If the results are negative, the student can come back to school. If the results are positive, the student (and other household contacts) will need to quarantine for 10 days.
The Stafford 349 Board of Education is continuing to update protocols to go along with this opportunity.
In order for your child to participate in the program, the school will need a permission slip on file so we can test before and/or during school. If you would like to have your child tested through the school program, please fill out and sign the attached permission slip that is being sent home today.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Katie Minks at kminks@stafford349.com

The Sophomore class is organizing a sock drive for families in need. Please bring new, unused socks to room 330 anytime between now and October 29th. #OneTeamOneFamily

Hey parents!
Did you know we started using a social-emotional curriculum with our middle/high school students last year? It's the same one elementary has been using from Core Essentials but more suited for older ages (ReCo)!
This month we are learning about "Individuality".
Check out the parent newsletter to find out more about what we're talking about here in school and how you can supplement at home!

Last week in Baking & Pastries, students prepared Banana Chocolate Chip and Mixed Berry Muffins after studying the "Muffin Method" of preparing quick breads. This week, they will learn about and prepare a recipe using the "Creaming Method". After the Quick Bread unit is over, students will be learning about and preparing the 6 Basic Types of Cookies.

Last week, students in one of the Culinary Applications classes prepared Raspberry Chocolate Cups. The dark chocolate cups were created in silicone molds, using tempered chocolate. The filling was a dark chocolate, raspberry mousse (whipped cream, melted dark chocolate, and fresh raspberry puree), topped with fresh raspberries. The dessert was absolutely beautiful and delicious, although very rich.

Picture day is tomorrow. Packets came home in the last week.

PrairieStar dental screenings are next week. Paperwork came home with your child over a week ago.
