Help your community by telling us about your local internet service! Fellow Kansans at the University of Kansas Institute for Policy & Social Research are seeking ways to improve internet access and quality in our state. We need your help finding areas in Kansas that experience internet service gaps. These gaps keep people in Kansas communities from being able to access online education, health care and other critical services. Take the survey and help Kansas get better connected: https://ipsr.ku.edu/broadband/kansas.shtml.
This survey takes about 15 minutes to complete. You may take the survey only once. If you have any questions about this survey, please contact Dr. Germaine Halegoua (grhalegoua@ku.edu), Donna Ginther, principal investigator (dginther@ku.edu), or ipsr@ku.edu. Thank you so much for your time, and we look forward to better understanding your broadband access.

The last couple days we have had fun learning about the history of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 6th and 7th grade. We watched videos of how the balloons are made and read the book, "Balloons Over Broadway" to give background knowledge. They were then tasked to make their own balloon. It could be a character from a book or movie or their own unique design. They came out great and it showed them history is fun.

Hello all,
My name is Jessica Davisson and I am in my 2nd year of teaching as Stafford's K-12 Art teacher. I see all of elementary and I have 2 middle school art classes and 2 high school art classes. I grew up in Pittsburg, KS and graduated high school in 2014 at Pittsburg High School and went to Pittsburg State University in 2020 during COVID. I began teaching in Stafford shortly after graduating. Some of my favorite things to do is reading, creating, and gaming with my husband, Koda who works as a custodian at Stafford School as well. We have been together for almost 10 years and married for nearly 5 years. We have 1 dog and 2 guineas who we adore.

The Sophomore class is planning a community cookbook. This holiday week as you are looking through your recipes - we would like to ask you to send any you would like included to jenniferheminway@stafford349.com. Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving from the Class of 2024!

Hello! My name is Destiny Johnson. I am the Mental Health Liaison here at Stafford Schools for all grades PK-12.
Although I've spent most of my life in Stafford and graduated from high school here, I moved away for awhile to obtain a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Master's degree in Social Work, both at the University of Kansas. During my time there, I worked at a Domestic Violence Shelter and one of the local middle and high schools. I also got married to my high school sweetheart, Ethan Johnson, and adopted by younger brother, Jacob!
Now, as the Liaison for the Mental Health Intervention Program, I coordinate on-site mental health services for students generously provided by The Center for Counseling. However, I also help with tons of other social-emotional learning for our students by offering individual check-ins, small groups, lunch bunches, and more.

Hi, I'm Jennifer Heminway and I teach Business, Personal Finance and the Web/Digital CTE Pathway. This is my first year at Stafford where I am enjoying getting to know my students. They are such fun - I love getting up every day knowing I get to spend time learning alongside them. I'm sure you all already know this - but the teachers and staff here are some of the most fantastic people it has ever been my privilege to work with.
Outside of school I love to travel, read and spend time with my family.

Hello Trojan Nation! My name is Brooke McNickle and this is my second year as the Vocational Agriculture teacher at Stafford. After graduating from K-State in Dec '19, I decided to move back home to the family farm. During that year, I noticed the lack of an Ag teacher at Stafford. I felt that it is very important to have an agriculture program in the high school, especially in a farming community, so I decided to step up and fill the role. It has been such an awesome opportunity to come back to the place I graduated from to teach. In addition to teaching, I am also the FFA advisor. I look forward to many more years at Stafford!

With our extended break next week and in an effort to include as many students as possible, we are postponing our Trojan Thanksgiving meal until we come back on November 29th. Your Lunch Ladies hope everyone has a wonderful holiday break and come back to school ready for another Thanksgiving Feast!

My name is Laeny Bauman and I currently teach 8th-12th grade social studies. I also teach two classes in the Teaching and Training CTE pathway and love working with future teachers! I started at Stafford Middle and High School in 2017 after graduating from Kansas State University. Outside of school, I love spending time with my family and cheering on Trojan Nation!

Greetings! My name is Jeff Heminway, and I am the high school Math and Physics Teacher. A native of Denver, Colorado, I attended Colorado School of Mines for Engineering Physics and then Regis Unversity for Software Engineering after a tour in the U.S. Air Force. The next eighteen years I spent as senior software engineer for a defense contractor. After spending thirteen years overseas and solving problems for the government in three different continents, I decided I wanted to make a difference in people's lives instead. I attended Fort Hays State in their Transition to Teaching program and have been teaching in rural Kansas for eight years. This is my third year at Stafford, and I have also enjoyed the honor of being the Scholar's Bowl Coach and advisor for National Honor's Society. I have two boys, one who just became an alumni of KU and the other is in his second year there. I would talk more about my beautiful wife, but she has her own page.
